The brightest star in the constellation Virgo, magnitude 1.0. It is an eclipsing binary, varying by about 0.1 magnitude with a period of 4.014 days. The primary is a blue-white B star with a mass about eleven times the Sun's. The name means "an ear of corn". See also: Table 3. |
